I have always thought the service from Hobgoblin staff, both in the shops (Birmingham is my nearest) and now using mail order; it has always been excellent (5 Star). The staff are always friendly, very efficient and most helpful. Great stuff and keep up the good work.

I’ve been on a few music shops over the years and have always felt out of place. Normally because of the staff having an attitude towards the customers. I’ve always felt quite uncomfortable because I’m not a musician as such in fact I can only string a few chords together to make a half decent sound. I was therefore extremely pleased and surprised to find the young lady and young man working in your shop in Birmingham not only extremely helpful and knowledgeable happy to talk to a non-muso like myself.

They answered all of my questions laughed at my jokes and helped me make a few decisions about where I’m going in the future with my music. They may not realise this but They made a positive impact on me. So much so I felt I had to let you know…The experience of a 10 min visit to your shop has given me the positive experience that I needed to continue playing my ukelele (Badly).

This is just a quick word to express my appreciation for the service I recently received from your shop in Birmingham. I visited the shop on Friday morning last week (25 July) and was interested in buying a tenor guitar which I had been researching on the net for quite some time. I was helped by a banjo player who turned out to be extremely well informed. For once, I felt that I was talking to a fellow musician in a music shop, which has not always been the case in the past. We were also of the same age, which helps too! After I had decided to buy an instrument, arranging delivery to France proved to be very straightforward and, above all, very reasonably priced. The guitar was delivered yesterday and had been perfectly packed and as a result was delivered in perfect condition. I am extremely impressed with the service from your shop in Birmingham and feel strongly enough about it to want to tell you myself.

The staff in the Birmingham branch of Hobgoblin were absolutely amazing! I cannot tell you how lovely they all were! Very helpful, more than happy to chat and interested in what I was there for. Plus the fact that I was more than happy with my ukulele deal! I cannot praise them enough. Thank you.

Emphasise how fantastic your staff are in the shops – absolutely brilliant !

My daughter wanted a piano accordion, and phoned up the Birmingham Branch, we visited (from Derby), and from the first moment the young man who helped her was really knowledgeable, and offered advice. He was encouraging all the while and patient. I think he must have realised that Catherine was really interested in having an instrument that suited her, and she tried 7 instruments. It was one of the best shopping experiences we have ever had – full marks ! I will recommend you to all my musician friends! I am a classical violinist, and I hate music shops because they are usually so snotty nosed and aloof – you were patient, attentive, encouraging, and musicians!

Spoke to Mark over the phone about a c#d hohner accordion,new the price on your web site but dealt with him on a better price. Price was agreed including postage to n.ireland. Could not ask for any better service. Mark is what every company needs. best regards derek. thanks very much.

I was in your shop today and bought myself an Ashbury mandolin. Can I just

take this opportunity to say your customer service was excellent, I’ve been

in a lot of music shops where I’ve felt either ignored or pushed towards

buying something out of my price range. The person who helped me today

(sorry I didn’t get his name) was really respectful of my budget and allowed

me to make my own decision, while still making me feel like I could come

back and ask questions. I’ve never picked up a mandolin in my life (I play

uke) but I wasn’t made to feel stupid. I’m definitely going to recommend

your shop to friends, and I’ll be visiting again myself. I’m completely in

love with my mandolin and I’ve even been able to play a song on it (kind of,

wouldn’t dare to play it publicly yet!).

I brought in two flutes that I could barely get a note out of and the technician Dot kept in very good contact with me at each stage of the repair which was carried out quickly and efficiently. Now I am delighted with the good strong bottom C’s on both flutes and their overall performance. The price charged was most reasonable too. I will be recommending you to all I come in contact with needing this sort of service.

P.S.: Noel was also brilliant with the way he helped with the parking ticket for outside the shop as I didn’t really want to go to the trouble of parking my van up whilst collecting the flutes.

I would like to make a few comments regarding the level of service I have just received from two members of your staff, Dot and Becky.



Last week I accidentally dropped my tenor saxophone, which sustained damage enough to make it virtually unplayable.



A musical associate suggested I phone Windworld and I was pleased to discover that you do a repair service. Dot did a wonderfully thorough job on my saxophone, repaired the damage and even improved things that had been overlooked in the factory. It is now in better condition than before its accident.



I am still a beginner on the saxophone and was looking for some advice regarding mouthpieces. Dot suggested that I should talk to Becky about this, so when I collected my “better than new” instrument yesterday I was very pleased with the service I got. He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and attentive, and went out of his way to make guitars available that weren’t in stock, thereby ensuring that I bought the right guitar. I would thoroughly recommend this store to any potential customers.
